Elizabeth Mercer Photography “I was inspired to do this shoot while at Griffith Observatory with my sister one day. There was a couple star gazing and you could tell they had that newlywed energy, endlessly in love but still enjoying the butterflies. If was such a great contrast to see the fluidity of love next to these very structured buildings. I wanted to capture that moment. I think Griffith is a threshold that allows people to connect to the stars without overwhelming the senses and yet it’s beautiful in it’s construction. I think a great photo is about capturing the juxtaposition of two things that shouldn’t work, and yet they do. This is the excitement of life. I call this shoot “Artemis and Orion” after one of the greatest love stories of the sky.”

Kristine Ambrose Photographer “Serendipity had a part in this love story. They met, as Hugo was Celena’s waiter a few years ago. There was some flirting going on during her dinner but nothing more. One year had passed and they crossed paths again and the flirting picked up from where they left off. They knew their chemistry was meant to be and a steamy romance began. Hugo proposed to Celena in a favorite secret place. With the ocean off in the distance, he took a knee and she said yes. Celena’s family surprised her at the proposal and the rest is history. For their engagement photo session, they chose Los Angeles Union Station and Olvera Street in downtown. They fell in love with the vibrant colors, old town spirit, beautiful natural light and iconic architecture”

Mollie Tobias Photography “The session was based on a real couple, Hilary and Paul, who wanted to bring to life their version of the famous founding couple, John and Abigail Adams. “The Adams’ relationship is an inspiration and John Adams’ core values and morals were way beyond his time. We admired their relationship so much we used one of their [estimated 12,000] love letters as a reading in our wedding ceremony.” It was well known that Mr. and Mrs. Adams were avid letter writers, so we decided to incorporate the theme of love letters into the session. Our calligrapher, also a bit of a history buff it would seem, went online and found us Abigail Adams stamps for the invitation suite and even researched the address at which Abigail had been living before her marriage to use on the RSVP cards. While John was in office many people called the couple “Mr. President” and Mrs. President” so we made some mugs with those titles on the side. Andy Bang Photographers “Drew and Allison are two cute peas in a pod. They each work at high-stress jobs and yet find the time to make their relationship work. They both love Crossfit and regularly workout together. This is an engagement session we did with them in downtown Los Angeles. We visited several hot spots including Union Station, Angels Knoll and wandered the streets of LA. They were dating for years before Drew popped the question at the beach with a surprise bonfire with all their friends. They are planning to get married in sunny Santa Barbara at the Montecito Country Club this September. Can’t wait to shoot the wedding!”

Bethany Stanglin “Adam was the very first person I met when I moved to San Diego over 4 year ago. We were actually next door neighbors, and quickly became friends while living in Pacific Beach. Not long after dating we decided we were ready for the next chapter of our lives together. We were drawn to downtown, and after only about a month of looking, we purchased a condo in East Village, San Diego. Downtown living was a dream come true for me, as I have always been a city girl at heart, even though I grew up in a small town in Central California. In many ways, downtown exemplifies who Adam and I are, both as a couple and individually. We are vibrant, energetic, and glamorous; we persevere and are ever changing. Even though we now live in Northern California, East Village is still our home, and we thought what better way to share it with friends and family than by getting married at Diamond View Tower and taking our engagement photos in our backyard.”
